New Year's Resolutions - 2008

Well, I've been sitting here thinking about how very different this year is from last. Last year Chip was knocking on Heaven's door, having just had major surgery. I was staying in a motel near the hospital. We were living on three acres of land out in the boonies. Christmas was pretty much non-existent. And I was pretty miserable.

This year, we're living next door to family. Christmas was wonderful, and Chip is pretty much healthy (we think). I've got a new job that I absolutely love, and even though it does get cold here in Central California, I'm not shoveling snow nor scraping ice off of the windshield before I go to work. Life is good.

Last year, I didn't make any resolutions. Had bigger fish to fry. This year, if I make any at all, it will probably be the "usual" ones:

More Bible reading, more prayer time, more "alone" time with God.
Eat healthier; maybe try and lose a little weight. Get more exercise.
Take steps towards getting that illusive college degree (I'm only a few units shy of an AA).
And this is a strange one for me - I need to write more in my journals! Since I started working, I haven't been writing as much, and I do miss it.
Get my dogs trained so that they're not so difficult to walk.

Doesn't sound like much, does it!

Today, being December 29th and a Saturday, is the day I'll take down the Christmas decorations. I was very grateful to be able to have a place to put them up, for a change. I missed decorating in Arkansas...we just didn't have the room, and it never really felt much like Christmas there anyway. So, today the decorations come down. I'll get the house back in some semblance of order. Walk the dogs. In general, live what passes for a "normal" life. And praise the Lord for that!

Blessings on all who read this. May your New Year (and mine) be a blessed one, and bring you (and me) closer to the Lord.

I am so glad your past year was over, my knees have SCABS on them!
It seems our lives parallel so very often. Funny, we are both in the 'settled' state once again. Let's both pray that neither of us rocks the boat!!
Have a wonderful, blessed and safe new years!
